Seattle’s NHL franchise finally alleviated the ever-growing curiosity around their team name when they announced they’d be nicknamed the Kraken. Along with the name, they released their logo and jerseys to the delight of some fans, and the chagrin of others.

One connection that just about everyone and their dog made was that the team name also moonlights as an alcoholic beverage. Not just any alcoholic beverage either, the daunting 47% alcohol, “black rum” Kraken.

It’s not like the NHL franchise didn’t anticipate this obvious connection, and it was announced on Thursday that they would be partnering with the rum company to make Kraken the official rum of the team.

As a result, you can expect to see Kraken branding around Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, and bottles with pirate-themed handles stocking up the bars. For Seattle Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke, he’s dreaming even bigger than that. Way bigger.

From the naming process, finally landing on Kraken, to winning the Cup and drinking Kraken out of it… that’s a Hollywood wrap up right there.
