Kurt Warner certainly left his mark on the game of football. The legendary quarterback, who is now 46 years old, not only put up numbers on the field on his way to becoming an NFL Hall of Famer, but he also contributed to the game in a broadcasting role for arena football. Apparently Warner was missing life on the gridiron, however, and he actually considered acting on it heading into the upcoming NFL season.

Warner was interviewed during a St Louis Cardinals game where he made a surprising reveal. Apparently he had actually been in talks with “a coach” about potentially signing a deal to take his familiar role at the helm. According to Warner, he ended up not doing so because the team went out and signed a quarterback instead, which he believes is a product of the coach not actually thinking Warner was serious about the discussion.

The following is a transcription as written by USA Today:

“I actually talked to a coach,” he said. “My wife said, ‘Go for it. I think it would be great.’ So I actually talked to a coach about possibly doing it if they needed someone. Then they went out and signed somebody. I don’t think they thought I was serious. So, I think we’re completely done now.”

Wow, wonder who the prospective team was. The Jets? The Broncos? The Vikings? The Josh Rosen-drafting Cardinals?

We may never know, but Warner did leave a little wiggle room when saying that he “thinks” they’re completely done now. Could there be a little voice in his head saying “…unless these comments put any ideas in a coach’s head”
