Hayley Wickenheiser is officially a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization and no one appears to be more pumped than general manager Kyle Dubas.

The 31-year-old, who was named the team’s general manager in May, touched on the hiring and insisted why the addition will be so key to the club going forward. Here’s what he had to say:

Wickenheiser becomes one of the NHL’s few females with a front office job. With six Olympics under her belt, and four gold medals to show from them, she brings a wealth of winning experience to the team.

And the only person more pumped than Kyle might just be Hayley herself!

The 4 x Olympic gold medalist couldn't be more excited about her new role with the #Leafs 👏

After locking down her new role, Wickenheiser commented on the opportunity ahead.

All of the sudden, the Leafs have become one of the more progressive organizations in the NHL. We’ll have to wait and see how her services will pay off.
