We know that Lindsey Vonn now has some pretty significant ties to the Nashville Predators. (We’re lookin’ at you, P.K.

But long before those ties existed, Vonn was a young girl growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the Minnesota Wild play.

Tonight, the team honoured her ahead of their game with a ceremonial puck drop following the news that she’d be retiring from skiing.

Did we mention that they happened to schedule this ceremonial puck drop for the Wild’s tilt against the Predators?

Not to worry though, because Subban already had his turn at congratulating his girlfriend on her amazing career

Subban looked on and seemed to be enjoying the whole ceremony. Vonn didn’t have to pick between her hometown and her current place of residence, and both teams got to go home with a point, as the Preds’ took a 3-2 shootout win over the Wild.
