The Islanders are gearing up to play in their beautiful new UBS Arena next season but they’ll have to wait a good chunk of games before they play their first game there.

The new barn is expected to open on November 20 and that means the Isles will have to play a solid chunk of road games to kick off their upcoming campaign… 13 to be exact, and you better believe general manager Lou Lamoriello wasn’t happy about it. Just look at what he had to say about it…

AKA the 78-year-old was punching air when he found out and we can’t say that we blame him!

And it’s not like their schedule will be a cakewalk either. New York will face the Hurricanes, Panthers, revamped Chicago, Winnipeg, Vegas, Montreal, and the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning during that stretch. But hey, it’ll allllll be worth it for that new arena.

The Isles will kick things off with their first game against Carolina on October 14th. They’ll definitely be one of the teams to keep a close eye on as the season gets underway.
