Fans of the Toronto Raptors can remember the Lou Williams days in Toronto fondly.

After trading Rudy Gay out of Toronto, the Raptors surprisingly started to play a whole lot better. That was bolstered at the end of the season when John Salmons – one of the trade pieces in the Gay trade – was flipped over to Atlanta with a 2nd round pick in exchange for Lou Williams and Lucas Nogueira’s draft rights.

Lou Williams proceeded to become one of the key parts to the Raps first dominant regular season in what would become a string until this current day. Williams filled the 6-man role as their top bench player, and he filled it well. Lou-Will would eventually win 6-man of the year, and he was also featured on Drake’s song 6 Man.

While fans remember Williams’ days in Toronto fondly, he returns the feeling. In his first Instagram post following playing DeMar DeRozan as a non-Raptor for the first time Thursday, Williams opens up on what it meant to be accepted on to the Raptors team and allowed to thrive in his 6-man role.

Williams finished the game with a team-high 23 points in the win from his familiar spot off the Clippers bench, DeRozan meanwhile had a game-high 34. Not too shabby from the former Raps.
