Earlier this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs Stadium Series jerseys that they’ll wear against the Washington Capitals on March 3rd in an outdoor game leaked into the public sphere.

While that gave us a good idea of what the jerseys will look like, we still didn’t know how the rest of gear would look, as well as the overall theme.

On Saturday morning, the Leafs officially released the jerseys, and they’re quite nice.

The colours white and blue are featured heavily as a tribute to the Royal Canadian Navy. The outdoor game will take place at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.

Right away, the all-white gloves, socks, helmets and pants grab your attention by the way it’s presented with the blue stripes.

The Maple Leafs logo is kept intact, but features a blue outline emphasizing the leaf. On the inside collar, the words “Honour. Pride. Courage” have been replaced with “Ready, Aye, Ready” in honour of the Navy.

"The Maple Leafs have had a very long and proud association with our Armed Forces throughout the years and this special game is an important opportunity for us to not only pay tribute to the Royal Canadian Navy, but to also say thank you to the many men and women who serve our country so bravely,” said President Brendan Shanahan in a press release.

“This unique uniform, to mark a unique occasion, celebrates the traditions of both the Royal Canadian Navy and the Toronto Maple Leafs and it will be a great honour for our players to wear this sweater next month.”

In general, the reaction to the jersey on social media was pretty positive, and some fans couldn’t help but notice a resemblance with the Stormtroopers from Star Wars. If you’ve played hockey over the years, then we don’t have to tell you what it means to wear white gloves. Understandably, some fans didn’t like the white mitts, socks and pants, but we still think they look sharp.

What do you think? Hot or not?
