Matt Niskanen shared one of the weirdest parts about playing with Ovechkin

Playing with one of the best hockey players in the world must be a crazy experience. 

We can’t imagine what it would be like to share the ice with guys like Crosby and McDavid, but we can guess it’s probably pretty surreal. 

While the same is definitely true when it comes to playing with Caps’ star Alex Ovechkin, it’s also probably a little bit bizarre. 

Obviously, the guy is unreal, but he has some hilarious tendencies, especially when it comes to his diet. 

Ovi defies all odds when it comes to his pregame meal, and his source of hydration on the bench. 

Aside from the impressive amount of carb loading, Ovi also opts for an anything-but-ordinary drink on the bench, and teammate Matt Niskanen dished on how surprised he was to take a swing out of one of his bottles at practice once. 

Yup, Ovi was enjoying a Coca-Cola on the bench. What a guy. 

It seems like this is an actual thing for some of the league’s toughest customers, because we definitely remember Chara guzzling pop on the bench back in the day, too.
