The Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor was a fight that had few losers. The audience was captivated throughout, Floyd Mayweather made it to 50-0 and Conor McGregor left with his head held high and a lot more money.

Still, while everybody may have been happy at the end, the two fighters were feeling competitive throughout and when that happens, the words will start flying. Maybe more between these two fighters than ever before, we’ve seen that they love to talk. With what at times felt like an endless run of press conferences, they did plenty of talking before the fight.

However, hearing what Mayweather said during the fight is far more interesting than anything that was said before the fight.

In his post-fight press conference, Floyd Mayweather was asked about his push after the bell at the end of the fifth round. This was his explanation of the encounter:

“Give the fans what they want to see. I pushed him and told him, you still aint knocked me out yet, I thought you said it wasn’t going past four [rounds]. Show me your real power…

It was trash talking that fighters do, whether it’s MMA or boxing. Y’know, we talk trash.”

We have a feeling that it may have been a little less friendly than that exact quote, but it’s an interesting moment in the fight, because that was around the time that things really seemed to turn on McGregor. It really does lend more credibility to the fact that Mayweather was just letting him tire himself out in the first couple round, because when Mayweather was shooting off this trash talk, Conor has already given him his best.
