Warning: the following post will result in cuteness overload.

The Washington Capitals have a new addition to their club: a puppy by the name of Captain. We could go on and tell you all about him, which we will do later on, but let's get to the pictures and videos, shall we?

Caps fans were introduced to Captain ahead of their home opener, as the captain of the Caps, Alex Ovechkin carried him through the crowd of fans and across the red carpet.

 Check out these adorable photos:

Just 10 weeks old, the young yellow lab will be trained as a service dog. In partnership with America's VetDogs, the company provides service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities. Over the next 14-16 months, he'll be trained by members of the organization and interact with staff, players and the general public. Captain will attend select home games, practices, and partake in community events.

Once he's trained, he'll return to Smithtown, New York and commence his formal service dog training where he'll work his way to a veteran or first responder at no cost.

You can follow Captain on Instagram and Twitter.
