Just about every kid who grows up playing hockey dreams of one day playing the game at the professional level, and some of them are willing to do whatever it takes to live out the dream.

Justin Danforth scored 57 goals and 141 points in 131 games with the OJHL’s Cobourg Cougars before attending Sacred Heart University for four years. During his time at Sacred Heart he scored 42 goals and 124 points in 147 games and signed with the ECHL’s Reading Royals after graduating.

The Oshawa, Ontario native enjoyed some time in the ECHL and AHL before moving overseas where he joined the Finnish Elite League for two years. Now, the 27-year-old is a KHL rookie and he’s chasing down the league scoring title.

Danforth joined HC Vityaz on a one-year contract back in March and it’s looking like he’ll land a new deal at some point this year based on his performance through 17 games. His 7 goals have him tied for 4th in the goal race, and his 17 points has him tied for 5th in the league.

With 7 goals and 17 points through his first 17 games, there’s a good chance we’ll see him in this race all year long.
