Reserve goaltender Andrew Hammond stood on his head in the Colorado Avalanche’s 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators, stopping 44 of 45 shots on goal to keep the Avs alive and force Game 6. They call him the Hamburglar for a reason, and one attentive Reddit user noticed that microphones from the NBC broadcast picked up Nathan McKinnon loudly, and obscenely, calling him the Hamburglar.

Warning: NSFW language follows. From AdrianBeltres3000th on Reddit:

Remarkably, Hammond only played in one game during the regular season, even spending some time in the AHL. With starter Semyon Varlamov and backup Jonathan Bernier ahead of him, Hammond was largely squeezed out of the depth chart as the backup to the backup.

However, after Bernier was injured in Game 4 and with Varlamov already out, Hammond rose to the task admirably when his number was called. The Avs’ couldn’t have pulled off the narrow 2-1 win without a strong performance in net.

So, basically, what McKinnon said.

Fans have already enshrined Hammond on Wikipedia, changing his page to describe him as the newest Predators owner:

There’s no word yet on Bernier’s availability for Game 6 as he’s dealing with some type of lower body injury, so the Avs may need another big performance from the Hamburglar if they want to force a Game 7.
