Fans of the Mighty Ducks trilogy are in for some good news. With the arrival of Disney Plus, Disney's new streaming service, Discussing Film is reporting that a reboot series is on the way. 

 

According to the report, the storyline will be centred around a 13-year-old boy who was cut from the Mighty Ducks team. Along with the help of his mother, they start their hockey team by recruiting a coach, a group of kids to play, and find a rink to play at.

 

The original films were based on coach Gordon Bombay, a lawyer who was ordered to coach a youth hockey team as his community service after being arrested for drunk driving. 

 

The series will supposedly be filmed in Vancouver starting in mid-February and finishing up in early June. Steven Brill, the original trilogy screenwriter of The Mighty Ducks, is said to be involved in the production. Disney has yet to release an official premiere date.

 

The Mighty Ducks, the original film of the series made over $50 million in revenue off a $10 million budget.
