In this day and age, it's honestly more surprising to see athletes without a Twitter or Instagram rather than with one.

Social media has taken over so much that it is just expected that you have a social media account because how else would you communicate with someone and get instantaneous news, right?

Still, some athletes aren't about the social media lifestyle, and understandably so, while some, like LeBron James, use it and then pull a "Zero Dark Thirty," which is a fancy way of saying don't use it all during the playoffs.

Either way, the bottom line is it's never to late to start using social media.  Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews just joined Twitter earlier this year, for example, and another NHL captain recently joined as well.

33-year-old Mark Giordano, captain of the Calgary Flames, officially joined Twitter this past week, and of course, the chirps started immediately as his teammate Mikael Backlund welcomed him with a hilarious picture.

The Mr. Bean reference is kind of perfect for Gio.  Rather than just sitting back and taking his lumps, though, Gio fired back in impressive fashion.

Although he hasn't had Twitter for more than a week, Giordano certainly has it all figured out.

His team seems to have everything figured out after a slow start to the season, too, as the Flames are currently one point behind the Oilers for third place in the Pacific Division and are the owners of the second wild card spot in the West.
