The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a rollercoaster of a season to say the least. From firing a coach that many considered to be one of the best in the game, to almost becoming the first team to ever score four goals in 10 consecutive games, it’s hard to put a pin on exactly how the Leafs should feel.

Saying that, the mood certainly wasn’t a good one after they fell 8-4 at the hands of the Florida Panthers.

With the Leafs and the Panthers jockeying for the coveted 3rd spot in the Atlantic Division, there was a feeling of significance when the Buds got to Sunrise, Florida. They didn’t just lose, they REALLY lost. After the 8-spot was given up, a fired up Mitch Marner explained that the team needs to “wake up”.

"We need to wake up here."

It’s not very often you see Marner so openly upset, as usually he would keep the attitude behind closed doors. He certainly didn’t seem to mind speaking out after this particularly upsetting loss, and his teammates echoed the feeling.

The Leafs will try again on Tuesday when they welcome the New Jersey Devils to town.
