The Tampa Bay Rays have struggled with attendance for a long time and a solution that appears to be a real possibility has caught almost all baseball fans off-guard.

According to Jeff Passan, the Rays will explore the idea of becoming a two-city team by splitting their home games with Montreal. It is not clear how many games would be played at each location, but early season games would go to Tampa Bay and later season games would be in Montreal, according to the report.

There aren’t many details beyond that other than that they fill it will help make the construction of new stadiums simpler. The plan is apparently a long-term idea, so they are at least claiming that it wouldn’t be a bridge to moving to Montreal, but nobody is really sure how that would work.

For example, what would the city name be? Do players have to buy two different homes? If not, where do they live on a regular basis? Would they change the logo and/or team name?

There are not a lot of answers, but fans have a lot of questions.
