You know what? Hockey is complicated

There are a lot of rules, written and unwritten, a million different tactics and plays to remember, a lot of politics, and a whole bunch of pressure to perform. As soon as you get out of Timbits and you’re not allowed to make snowflakes on the ice anymore, things just aren’t as simple.

Somewhere along the line, hockey stops being just plain ol’ hockey.

So if you think your Sunday night beer league games can get complicated, just imagine how stressful it must be to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

As you probably already know, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins are headed to Game 7 in their first round playoff series.

Talk about complicated and stressful.

At the end of the day, though, hockey is just hockey. The team that scores the most goals wins, and the team that doesn’t loses. It’s honestly more simple than us die-hards make it.

So, when asked about how the Leafs were going to pull off a win to get past the first round, alternate captain Morgan Rielly had a pretty simple answer.

You know what, Morgan? Fair enough.

We think that people play the best hockey when they’re loose, and things are simple, so maybe this is a good sign for struggling Leafs fans.
