It made some minor waves around social media when Nate Diaz started smoking a joint during his open workout ahead of UFC 241. The joint was CBD, which is legal in the UFC, but it was still pretty unusual.

Diaz is the founder of a CBD company, Game Up Nutrition, along with his brother Nick, and he has often been vocal about the benefits of using CBD, especially for athletes.

Speaking to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, Diaz once again explained why athletes should be using CBD over PEDs.

That’s classic Nate Diaz right there, cracking jokes about getting kicked out of school from fighting and selling weed to fighting and selling CBD for a career. There’s no doubt, though, that he believes CBD has played a role in the longevity of his 15-year fighting career.

The use of marijuana and similar products in sports is becoming increasingly popular, and as the stigma around the issue fades, it’s certainly interesting to monitor. Especially when Diaz hops on stage to puff-puff-pass.
