The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of things in this world. It’s stripped away some things that we used to take for granted, and made us appreciate the things we used to do a lot more.

Two of those things are attending live sports events and attending concerts. Remember last summer when we weren’t even totally sure when we’d see sports happen again?

We still aren’t able to attend these events in the capacity we’d like, but they’re definitely starting to come back. The two worlds are colliding once again as the NHL hits Lake Tahoe for an outdoor game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights when Green Day will take the ice to perform a brand new song.

Green Day has been around a long, long time. To put it into perspective, front man Billie Joe Armstrong turned 49 years old today, which means he was born only a few days after Jaromir Jagr.

The band has also been featured in two NHL games, first appearing through their side project The Network with the song Roshambo, and then appearing in NHL 10 as Green Day with Know Your Enemy.

While the outdoor game won’t be what it’s been in years past, we’re still very excited.
