On Saturday, the Senators and Canadiens play in a historic game outdoors in the NHL 100 Classic.

The reason those two teams were chosen to play in the game is because 100 years ago almost to the day (December 19th, 1917), they played the first game in NHL history.

In honour of the historic occasion, the NHL shared this document that contains some interesting information not all hockey fans probably know.

It's interesting to note that because the second Quebec team had to withdraw, the Toronto team took their place and we wonder what the hockey world would look like now if that didn't happen.

In addition to the document, here's the score sheet from that historic game and it's cool to see what a score sheet looked like back then compared to now.

The NHL's Twitter account will be the home to cool documents like this all weekend long we imagine, so if you're into the history of hockey, then be sure to check the league out on Twitter for more awesome blasts from the past.
