Say good-bye to Claude Julien.

The Montreal Canadiens have fired their head coach along with their assistant coach Kirk Muller. The announcement came the day after the Habs lost their second straight game against the Ottawa Senators who are in last place in the North Division.

Let’s go back a bit. The Canadiens had a pretty hot start to the season! They were leading the Division in first place after going 4-0-2 on their season opener road trip. Unfortunately for Julien, he was unable to carry that success; things went downhill fast. One month later and the Habs are now in fourth place with a record of 9-5-4. Also, they’ve managed to drop six of their last eight games.

It looks like time was slowly running out for Julien. Here is how twitter reacted on his firing:

Dominique Ducharme will be taking over as interim head coach. While Alex Burrows, who was an assistant coach on the AHL's Laval Rocket, has been added to the coaching staff as well. (H/T Montreal Canadiens)
