The Edmonton Oilers came into the NHL season seen as one of the favourites in the North Division. With star power in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still commanding respect, development in other areas helped to improve the team as well.
Tyson Barrie has proved to be a solid add to the Edmonton power-play, while fellow defenceman Darnell Nurse has also developed into a very capable blueliner. Mike Smith is enjoying a nice year in net, as well.
The Oilers still have holes, particularly in their depth, but nobody wants to meet McDavid, Draisaitl, and the Oilers in playoffs. That much is for sure.
Well… somebody is going to have to! Edmonton beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 on Monday to secure a playoff berth.
Oilers fans were full of energy following the clinch, and they took to Twitter to express their glee.
