On the third Monday in February, families in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan come together to celebrate the holiday of Family Day.

To celebrate the holiday with their fans, the Toronto Maple Leafs released a special behind the scenes video on their YouTube page highlighting the inaugural mothers trip. Parents are brought on a separate stretch of road games to experience the life of a professional athlete that includes high-quality meals, plane rides, hotel rooms and box seats to take in the games, as evidenced in the video below.

The Maple Leafs moms -- including those of the coaching staff, organization and training staff -- took the trip back in December and was highlighted by a video of Mitch Marner's mom caught on camera flossing.

“I feel like as mothers we really don’t get as much appreciation, and I was the one who woke up at 5:30 in the morning to register Zach (Hyman) at a hockey program when he was 4 years old.”

Most teams around the league do a father's trip to salute the father figures who helped their sons reach the NHL. But that doesn't mean the moms don't deserve some recognition, so good on the Leafs for making this happen.

“She’s probably one of the bigger reasons why I’m here, said Kaspari Kapanen.

"She’s the one who would always wake me up at 6 am and drive me to the rink.  “She’s a hero, she’s everything to me.”
