Conor McGregor talks a lot. Like, A LOT a lot.

The Irish MMA fighter (Er, should we say “former” MMA fighter?) has become one of the faces of the UFC by way of a few different factors.

First of all, he used to win almost everything. When he officially fought in the UFC for the first time, he started a streak of seven straight wins. That included wins over Max Holloway (the current featherweight champion), Dustin Poirier (scheduled to fight Holloway for the Interim Lightweight belt), Chad Mendes (to win the interim Featherweight belt), and legend Jose Aldo (to become the undisputed champion), along with some others.

That’s enough to get even the most reserved or unmarketable fighters attention. McGregor was anything but that.

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor became known for his relentless trash talking. His charisma and unwillingness to back down mixed together to make him one of the most entertaining fighters of all time. Any card Conor was fighting on was a highly anticipated card.

Of course, in more recent times he’s fallen out of public favour a tad. His trash-talking seemed to become more schtick, his legal troubles interfered with his professional fighting life, and he began to lose. Losses to Nate Diaz (who he would then go on to beat), Khabib Nurmagomedov, and even boxer Floyd Mayweather left his legacy armour chinked.

Do you think that stopped him from talking? Absolutely not. Not even a retirement announcement could do that.

McGregor finds himself back in the crosshairs as he took on Khabib on Twitter. He even brought Khabib’s wife, who the Russian fighter has worked hard to keep unidentified, into the conversation. Posting a photo of the mystery bride to Twitter (which he has since deleted), this may be the Notorious’ most taboo exchange yet.

After Khabib compared McGregor’s retirement announcement to “a jealous wife” that keeps threatening to leave, but will never follow through, McGregor responded with this.

Again, it has since been deleted. Even so, Tweeting out wedding photos of your opponent is maybe biting off a little too much.

Khabib responds:

Perhaps double-downing on his deleted tweet, McGregor said this before Khabib’s response:

No rematch has been scheduled, and Conor is still technically “retired”, but we’re pretty certain this isn’t the last we see these two square off in the octagon.

Will there be as many fireworks as last time?
