When the Toronto Raptors drafted Pascal Siakam with the 27th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Raptors fans had no idea what type of player they were getting.
Fast forward to 2020 and now the man known as Spicy P is a fan favourite among all Raptors fans and you can find his No. 43 jersey on fans throughout the arena on any game night.
On Wednesday night, the 2019 NBA Most Improved Player was a special guest on #NBATogether with Ernie Johnson and spoke about everything from playing in his father’s name to his journey from Africa to the NBA, and much more. He also brought up the time he met Serge Ibaka for the first time, which took place many years before his NBA days.
Serge Ibaka made a name for himself during his earlier days with the Oklahoma City Thunder as one of the best defenders in the NBA, so everyone else at the camp was extremely stoked about the opportunity to pose alongside the 3-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member in a photo. However, Siakam had no idea who he was but decided to grab a photo anyways.
It’s funny how things work out sometimes.
