Patrick Kane had a very honest quote in response to Joel Quenneville being fired

On Tuesday, the Chicago Blackhawks made a shocking move by firing head coach Joel Quenneville. Coach Q spent over a decade with the Blackhawks and won the Stanley Cup three times during his tenure in Chicago.

He's equally as responsible for the turnaround of the Blackhawks as the stars on the ice like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, and after the announcement was made, Kane had this to say:

Patrick Kane: "When I first heard the news I was thinking: I wish I wasn’t sick that game in Vancouver. I wish I felt good on that road trip & could have played better & something like this doesn’t happen...I think Joel actually got a lot out of this group the last couple years."

Quenneville always got the most out of his players and the players wanted to play for him. Kane's quote exemplifies that fact perfectly and he and his teammates had nothing but wonderful things to say about their former coach.

Brent Seabrook on Quenneville: "He means the world to me: 10 years, three Stanley Cups. What was I, 23, 24, when I came here? He taught me a lot as a young man, as a young player. Little things he always harped on that I’ll remember for the rest of my life, for sure."

Patrick Kane on Quenneville: "We can be better as players too. I don't know if it was really a systems' thing or anything like that. It's just like we didn't get the job done, you know, and he's probably the fall guy for it."

Jonathan Toews: “Definite shock. I didn’t think there was going to be a change for a while.” Has nothing but praise to sing for Q, but captain says: “At the end of the day everyone has to commit to the new look and new energy in the room.”
