Brent Burns beard makes a lot of headlines, but it was living in the shadow of Patrik Laine’s beard this year.

Not literally of course. Burns’ beard is hands down longer, thicker, and has much more coverage. When it comes to actual beard impressiveness, Laine’s does not touch Burns’. That said, Laine’s beard became one of the more polarizing topics around the NHL. Some people hated the 19-year-old’s very 19-year-old looking straggly beard, others thought that it added to his mystical scoring touch.

By Friday at 2pm in Finland, the beard will be no more. Laine has booked an appointment.

The beard that divided fans more distinctly than the Red Sea is finally leaving Laine’s face, and fans have not been holding back how they truly feel about the chin sweater.

Wow, everything is about to change. Who knows, with the Jets roster looking as young and talented as ever maybe a deep playoff run will restore the beard in all it's greatness.
