After a wait that seemed like it took forever, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are finally underway, albeit in 2021.

Aside from the regular thrill that comes with the always-exciting Olympic competition, there were also a few added layers of anticipation to these games specifically.  The Tokyo Olympics were the debut of four new sports to the Games; skateboarding, surfing, karate and sport climbing.

The new event most people had their eyes on headed into the games was skateboarding, and it most definitely has not disappointed.

Skateboarding debuted yesterday, with men’s and women’s street and park events, and people were loving the action. It wasn’t just the events themselves that people were so enthusiastic about, they were also blown away by the age and skill of the athletes involved. The three athletes on the Olympic podium for women's street skateboarding were 13, 13, and 16 years old, and people were taken aback by their poise and athleticism.

Wow!

We loved the energy and the action yesterday, and we have a strong feeling skateboarding has huge potential to grow as a sport, especially after what we saw yesterday.

Congratulations to all involved!
