The reigning NHL general manager of the year David Poile is officially the winningest GM in NHL history.

The Nashville Predators GM surpassed his good friend and former Oilers and Rangers GM Glen Sather by notching his 1,320 career win in Nashville’s 4-2 win over the Oilers on Thursday night.

The 68-year-old took his first job as a GM for the Capitals and won a total of 594 games in 15 seasons. Poile jumped ship to operate the Nashville Predators when they came into the NHL back in 1998, and never looked back.

The Preds came to within two games of winning the Stanley Cup last season thanks to Poile’s shrewd management skills that included acquiring Ryan Johansen, P.K. Subban and Filip Forsberg, and contrustcting one of the deepest blue line’s in the entire league.

Here’s some of the best reaction from around the hockey world congratulating Poile.
