10 years ago this week, Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor passed away after a group burglars invaded his home and ended his life.

Thursday Night Football saw the Redskins take on the Cowboys, and Taylor’s legacy was featured prominently prior to kickoff.

Redskins safety D.J. Swearinger paid his respects to the former Redskins safety by taping his facemask just like Taylor used to.

The taped facemask wasn’t the only piece of equipment Swearinger  wore to honour Taylor.

The NFL is allowing players to wear special sets of cleats in the “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative that allows players to honour and support causes or pay tribute to whomever. Swearinger paid homage to his sister, who has fibromyalgia, and Taylor.
