It’s always entertaining to watch athletes from other sports give hockey a try. While most athletes will have crossed over sports such as basketball, baseball, or football, the access to hockey just isn’t quite as easy. You need an ice rink, for crying out loud!

Hockey is also just so uniquely different than the other major North American sports, so even the most gifted natural athletes may struggle to adjust to the game.

A recent post from Washington Nationals outfielder Gerardo Parra – featuring teammate Juan Soto – reminded us of another very funny instance of non-hockey-athlete-trying-hockey. Fresh off the Nats’ World Series win, Soto and the rest of the team were on the tour around Washington. As part of Soto’s journey, he visited Capital One Arena.

Standing on the ice in his Gucci sneakers, Soto attempted his best Alex Ovechkin. Unfortunately for Soto, the shot didn’t quite go as well as he’d hoped.

Yikes! That looked like it was actually pretty close to a separated should… or worse!

While we’re all for having a good time, let’s maybe get this man a helmet next time he decides to pop by Capital One Arena.
