Evan Dunfee made Canada proud at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday as the Richmond, B.C. native captured the bronze medal in the men’s 50km race walk.

Dunfee finished with a season-east time of 3:50:59 to bring home Canada’s first race walking medal in 29 years and just the third race walking medal in Canadian history, and it came at a good time considering the International Olympic Committee has removed the race the Olympic program moving forward.

Not only did Dunfee’s season-best effort land him a bronze medal and his first career Olympic medal, but it also helped bring more than 35,000 boxes of food to the Richmond Food Bank.

That contribution is definitely going to put smiles on a lot of faces.
