New England Patriots fans can breathe a little easier now that Rob Gronkowski has confirmed he’ll be returning to the field next season instead of retiring.

On Tuesday afternoon, the 28-year-old tight end shared a post on his Instagram account confirmed he met with head coach Bill Belichick and informed him he will be back in a Patriots jersey next season.

"I met with coach today and informed him I will be back for the 2018 season with the Pats. I have been working out, staying in shape and feel great. Looking forward to another championship run.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also confirmed the news shortly after, and shared some more details.

Gronkowski is one of the most dominant tight ends to ever play the game and has recorded 474 receptions for 7,179 yards and 76 touchdowns in 102 games over eight seasons.
