On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced they had relieved former general manager Ron Hextall of his duties. Hextall enjoyed 10 seasons as a goalie with the Flyers and was in the midst of his fifth managing them before receiving the news.

And how he was informed his time with the team was coming to an end is pretty remarkable. According to the 54-year-old, the conversation he had with team president Paul Holmgren about the firing took all of 20 seconds…

That’s hardly enough time to sip your coffee for crying out loud! Fans didn’t seem too impressed after discovering the news.

During his time as GM, Hextall led the Flyers to the playoffs just twice and failed to reach the second round. He’ll always be a valued member of the organization but the 20 second conversation might not have sat with him too well.
