Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin is looking to stay off the disabled list this season. While it would be a shame to land on there during a Spring Training game, Martin wasn't taking any shortcuts during a game against the Phillies on Thursday.

During the bottom half of the second, Martin chased down a pop up in foul territory just in front of the Phillies on deck circle. Martin was able to extend his left arm and make the catch for the third out of the inning, but not before he was greeted by a net that protected the Phillies coaching staff.

After being helped up, Martin was still all tangled up in the netting, and then tripped before being hit in the face by a pole from the net.

Ouch.

Notice that Martin is rockin’ a fresh new man-bun. Don’t worry, it was still perfectly intact after the pole appeared to graze part of it.

Yes, Russel Martin’s manbun actually may’ve padded the blow.

The only netting that Martin should have to encounter is using one for his new hairstyle. The Phillies went on to beat the Jays 2-0 before the game was rained out in the 7th.
