For those keeping tabs on the goings-on in cryptocurrency, Bitcoin is definitely having a moment after soaring to record highs in valuation over the weekend.

It’s certainly paying off for Carolina Panthers tackle Russell Okung, who made some news in December when he announced that he was converting half of his $13 million salary into Bitcoin. Because of the rise in Bitcoin’s price since then, Okung has turned his salary into over $21 million, which makes him one of the highest-paid players in the league right now.

Only a handful of players have a salary over $21 million, with most of those players playing at the quarterback position. You gotta give props to Okung: Through some shrewd financial management, he’s catapulted his way into almost the same salary as Patrick Mahomes this year.

Given the rise of NFTs such as NBA Top Shot right now, it definitely looks like Okung made the right call to jump on the Bitcoin train ahead of time.
