Joe Pavelski is one of the biggest draft steals in NHL history as the Plover, Wisconsin native wasn’t selected until the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft where the San Jose Sharks selected him 205th overall.

Pavelski went on to spend two seasons at the University of Wisconsin before turning professional in 2006 and spent the next 13 years in San Jose. However, nothing lasts forever as the former Sharks captain signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Dallas Stars earlier this month, ending an era in San Jose.

On Sunday, the San Jose Sharks showed Pavelski some love by taking out a full page ad in the Mercury News and East Bay Times.

Pavelski played 963 games in a Sharks uniform and sits second on the franchise’s all-time leading goal scorers list with 355 goals and third on both the franchise’s all-time leading scorers list with 761 points and all-time leading assists list with 406.
