In a year that was overwhelmingly negative, Vanderbilt University’s Sarah Fuller provided the sports world with the inspiring story that it needed when she got the call to kick for her school’s football team, which was short of players due to COVID protocol.

With the feat, she not only became the first woman to kick and score a point in a Power Five Conference game, she also inspired millions of girls to believe they could be whatever they wanted, and proved that their dreams didn’t have to have to be limited by gender.

This story resonated well beyond the sports world, and yesterday, Fuller shared that she’d be invited to participate in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ inauguration. As pointed out by Fuller, this inauguration will be all the more meaningful for women and girls, as it’s the first time a woman will be sworn in as Vice President.

Women belong in every position that they’re capable of, whether that be in the Vice President’s office or on a football roster, and this inauguration will be an excellent reminder of that.

Congratulations to Sarah on the honour!
