The Winnipeg Jets opened up the scoring in their Rookie Showcase game against the Ottawa Senators on Friday night, but it was all Ottawa the rest of the way as they went on to crush Winnipeg, 8-1.

While the Sens’ young guns provided plenty of offence all game long, the best goal of the night was their first one, which came courtesy of 20-year-old Parker Kelly.

The Camrose, Alberta native managed to draw a penalty as he was tripped while going around the defenceman, but once he realized he still had the puck on his stick he decided to send it on net and he’s probably happy he did since he ended up with a goal.

Kelly scored 35 goals and totaled 67 points in 64 games with the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders last season after scoring 29 goals and totaling 59 points in 69 games the previous season.
