Shaquille O’Neal is a man of big personality. He's given himself many nicknames, such as The Big Aristotle, The Big Cactus, The Big Shamrock, Big Daddy Shaq, The Big Analytical and many such names that involve being big.

Having the biggest purchase in Walmart history, though, takes his commitment to character to another level. In an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Shaq describes a $70,000 purchase he once made at Walmart — a record-setting purchase at the chain, or at least according to Shaq.

After getting traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2008, Shaq says he was provided an empty apartment by the Suns and had to get "four or five TVs, printers, laptops, appliances, sheets, towels, undewear, T-shirts.” For some reason, he was compelled to do this at 2 a.m. in the morning.

Sure enough, Shaq’s credit card was declined at Walmart, because the bank could not believe that anyone in proper ownership of their credit card would spend $70,000 at Walmart. Walmart is a place that you go to to save money on things, Shaq.

Now, who can really say what Shaq’s life is like? If he says he needs four or five TVs and multiple printers and laptops, then sure, let’s go with that. The unfathomable thing, though, is having to get all of these at once. How is anyone even going to transport all of those things at once, anyway? At 2.am. in the morning!
