You might not know the name Luis Robert just yet, but you’re going to know it very, very soon.

The 22-year-old Chicago White Sox prospect is being dubbed by many White Sox fans as the Cuban Mike Trout and entered the season as the organization’s No. 1 ranked prospect. This season, the Havana, Cuba native has played at three different levels in the minors and has absolutely torn it up everywhere he stops. Through 102 games in three different leagues, Robert went into Monday hitting .333 with a .386 OBP to go with 24  home runs, 73 RBI and 35 stolen bases, so it’s easy to see why White Sox fans are anxiously awaiting his arrival.

This past weekend, a signed Luis Robert card sold at a Goldin Auction and it went for a ridiculous amount of money.

Robert hasn’t even spent a minute with the White Sox but his cards are already selling for absurd prices, strictly based on the hype and potential surrounding his career.

Right now it seems like way too much money to spend on an autograph card, especially on a card featuring a player who hasn’t even been called up yet. Even if he does live up to his potential or ends up being a lot better than what the scouts expected, it’s hard to say his card is going to be worth $50,000 in the future.
