Philadelphia sports fans are known to be some of the most passionate sports fans on the planet. If you’re playing for the other team or not living up to expectations, they’re going to let you hear it.
However, if you’re someone who helped provide the city with memorable moments and gave it all you had during your time in town, they’re going to love you forever.
On Friday night J.J. Redick and the New Orleans Pelicans made their lone trip of the season to Philadelphia and it was the first time back for the former 76er.
Even though the 35-year-old was playing for the visiting team, he got a warm ovation from the Philly faithful.
The 14-year veteran only spent two seasons with the Sixers, but they were both career seasons for Redick. Even though they couldn’t capture a championship during his time with the team, the fans were still happy to see him back in town.
In his two seasons with the Sixers, Redick appeared in 146 games and averaged 17.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
