For the first time since the fatal and horrific bus crash last spring, the Humboldt Broncos are ready to return to the ice.

The Broncos will welcome the Nipawin Hawks to Elgar Petersen Arena, the team they faced last spring in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoffs. The Broncos were on their way to Nipawin to force a Game 5 down 3-1 to the Hawks when their team bus crashed on April 6th. Sixteen people, including 10 players, died and 13 players were injured.

Ahead of the game, the members of the Humboldt and hockey community honoured the fallen victims by carrying on the #SticksOutForHumboldt tradition with 16 sticks placed outside the arena as a memorial along with a plaque.

Brayden Camrud, 20, and Derek Patter, 20, are the only two survivors that are back playing with the Broncos this season.
