Believe it or not, this is a world record that exists: Fastest marathon time while dressed as a landmark.

The previous record holder belongs to a fellow by the name of Richard Mietz, who ran the Berlin Marathon as the Holsten Gate of Lubeck, Germany in three hours, 34 minutes and 34 seconds.

Big Ben says move over. At the London Marathon, Lukas Bates tried to run the 26.2 mile race in a costume of the iconic clock tower. Finishing in three hours and 54 minutes, Bates fell short of breaking the record, but we think he deserves the applause anyway.

He ran into a hilarious issue at the finish line, when he needed some assistance crossing on account of the, ahh, overhead clearance.

Whoops! All in all, this is a pretty amusing finish to what must have been a pretty amusing race to follow.

It might be a bit of a bummer that even after all that effort, Bates wasn’t able to achieve his goal, but for doing all that, he’s certainly our hero.
