After the front nine in the final round of The Open Championship, Tiger Woods appeared to be on the path of winning his first major since 2008.

Holding the outright lead with eight holes to play, Tiger started to unravel, as he went on to double bogey and bogey holes 11 and 12, respectively.

Woods started the day out four shots off the lead, and eventually came up short by three strokes to finish at 5-under for the tournament.

Massive crowds tracked Tiger in the back nine, but his even score in the final round fell short of tournament winner and Woods’ playing partner, Franceso Molinari. It was the first time since 2015 that Woods played in the tournament after undergoing four surgeries starting in 2014, and the first time since the 2011 Masters that Woods sat atop of the leaderboard.

Here’s some of the best reaction from around the internet regarding Tiger’s strong outing.

Molinari, meanwhile, made history by becoming the first Italian to ever win The Open.
