The new era of Toronto Blue Jays baseball is officially underway after the front office traded away more of the few remaining pieces from the team’s playoff run, and a lot of Blue Jays fans are still wondering why the team decided to trade ace and fan favourite Marcus Stroman.

A lot of questions have gone unanswered over the years and this seems like one of those questions we’ll never know the true story behind. Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins has gone on the record and said that the team wanted to re-sign Stroman and had multiple discussions with the 28-year-old over the past few weeks, but apparently that never happened, according to Stroman himself.

Marcus #Stroman says he was never offered a deal from the #BlueJays’ front office 😬

In an interview with Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun, Stroman did not hold back at all when asked about his relationship with Atkins and the moves the team has been making.

You’ve got to appreciate that Stroman didn’t shy away from sharing his feelings on this subject, because it’s very rare that we get honest answers like these out of professional athletes.
