Junior Italian tennis player Maria Vittoria Viviani had her Australian Open run end in a very unusual way earlier this week. The 17-year-old had just dropped her first set to her opponent Xin Yu Wang and was very frustrated with her performance.

As a result, she ended up losing her cool for a split second and took out her anger on one of the tennis balls she had stored in her outfit.

You notice Viviani immediately stick her hand out to apologize after taking a swing at the tennis ball and that’s because she ended up smoking a ball boy with her shot. The umpire was not a fan of how she reacted to the loss and ended up disqualifying her from the tournament seconds later.

The ball boy was not hurt and that doesn’t surprise us because she barely put any power into her swing, it was just her showing her frustration. Apparently she did not take the call very well and had this to say to The Sydney Morning Herald.

“I was enjoying the game. The kid was moving and I hit him. I said sorry immediately because I saw him but he was OK.

“He was standing with the balls in his hands waiting for the match to start again.”

That might be one of the worst calls we have ever seen by an official in any sport. It’s one thing if she turned and fired the ball towards the stands, but she was clearly just frustrated and had no intention of hitting anyone with her shot. Viviani was so upset by the umpire's decision to disqualify her that she ended up crying for more than 90 minutes straight after the match.
