Last night in the NHL, hockey fans - and especially fans of the Colorado Avalanche - were treated to a rare and exciting occurrence.

Well, we guess it was exciiting for everyone except Predators fans.

With about 15 minutes left to play in the second period, the Avs trailed the Preds 3-2.

Then, things got wild.

The Avalanche went on a crazy scoring spree, potting an unbelievable six goals in eight minutes, ending the period with an 8-3 advantage.

According to NHL PR,. this established a new  franchise record for fastest six goals in a game. This in itself is crazy, but looking at the numbers from that period makes it even crazier.

Look. At. The. Shots.

The slew of points made for a huge night in terms of individual success, too. Cale Makar now leads the league’s rookies in scoring with 14 points in 16 games, and Joonas Donskoi put home his first NHL hat trick.

The game marked the first time the Avs had scores nine goals since 2007, and was good for the first time any team reached the mark this year.

This was some serious second period magic.
