Opening Day in the MLB is almost here, but the Toronto Blue Jays aren't out of surprises yet.

On Friday, they announced a whopping $500,000 minimum guarantee for their 50/50 Opening Day jackpot — a record in the MLB, and close to one across all of North American sports. The Vancouver Canucks claimed that record with a $507,278 prize last season.

Think fans will be getting hyped about this? While fans are going to have to wait just a little longer for the much-anticipated arrival of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the majors, maybe this will tide the home crowd over through Opening Weekend.

Marcus Stroman will be the team’s starter on Opening Day. After a down year last season, he’ll hope to rebound as one of the anchors in the rotation for the rebuilding Blue Jays, and he already seems hyped to get after it in front of the Canadian audience.
