Oh what a start to the year it has been for the Calgary Flames. Riding on the backs of Jacob Markstrom and Dan Vladar, the Flames have somehow managed to record seven shutouts in just 19 games played so far.

Markstrom has recorded five shutouts thus far, while backup Vladar has recorded two additional perfect games.

Not only that, their shutouts haven’t even been close. In each of their seven shutouts, they’ve scored AT LEAST three goals. With 30 goals coming in the seven shutouts, they’re officially averaging 4.29 goals per shutout.

On top of that, their loses have been extremely close. The Flames have five OT/Shootout losses in contrast to just three regulation losses.

To say the Flames are hot right now would be an understatement.
